Public Health Breastfeeding Webinar Series - Breastfeeding in the Community: Building Sustainable Lactation Support Projects through PSE Changes - June 19, 2017 (Web on Demand)

Course Number: WD2777-061917

The policies and systems that shape our environment impact the availability and accessibility of health care and affect individual capacity to implement recommended health behaviors. This is especially true as it relates to breastfeeding. The onus is upon us, the public health workforce, to ensure that breastfeeding support services are easily accessible in a frequent, consistent and predictable manner, enabling mothers and families to embrace breastfeeding as the easy option. The sixth, and final, webinar of the NACCHO Public Health Breastfeeding Series, will address how community level organizations can implement micro-level Policy, Systems and Environmental (PSE) changes and work collaboratively to integrate and co-locate lactation support services into existing programs. Participants will also hear from two former NACCHO Breastfeeding Project grantees who used their NACCHO grant funds to implement PSE changes to influence breastfeeding in their communities.

Specific Learning Objectives for Breastfeeding in the Community: Building Sustainable Lactation Support Projects through PSE Changes, 6/19/17, 2:00pm - 3:30pm

1. Define micro policy system and environmental (PSE) changes in the context of community-level breastfeeding support programs.
2. Name two micro PSE change strategies employed by NACCHO grantees to tackle structural barriers and address breastfeeding health inequities.
