Revised Guidelines for the Prevention of Perinatal Group B Streptococcal (GBS) Disease were published in the Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR) on November 19, 2010, and they are current for 2012.
The 2010 guidelines were developed using an evidence-based approach in collaboration with several professional associations; AAFP, AAP, ACNM, ACOG and ASM formally endorsed the guidelines.
CDC first issued guidelines for preventing GBS disease in 1996. Those guidelines were revised in 2002. Review the history of the 1996 and 2002 guidelines on the full site.
Any revisions or updates to the guidelines will be posted to this page.
