(Satellite Broadcast) Preparing for the Return of SARS: Are we ready? - Part 1

Course Number: SB0139

Start Date:  9/23/2003 2:00 PM ET
End Date:  9/23/2003 4:00 PM ET

Control of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) begins at the clinical interface --- suspicion, prompt recognition, appropriate diagnostics, and rapid implementation of infection prevention measures. This program will assist healthcare providers in preparing to diagnose and manage patients with SARS should cases be suspected or identified in the coming months. Although the likelihood of SARS re-emerging in the US and elsewhere is not known, the seasonal emergence of similar respiratory diseases forces us to prepare for that possibility.

Preparing for the Return of SARS: Are we ready? will be presented in two parts both targeted toward healthcare providers and key state and local public health personnel. The programs are scheduled for broadcast and webcast on September 23 and 30, 2003. Following the live programs, the information presented will be available in a variety of formats, including webstreaming, videotape, CD-ROM, and slide sets.

Site Registration is now open.
Site Administrators/Facilitators please register downlink facilities in order to allow viewers to locate a viewing site.

Participant registration and evaluation of this program will be available from September 23, 2003 to October 31, 2003. Participants are encouraged but not required to register and evaluate the broadcast/webcast. Registration and evaluation will provide valuable feedback to CDC. Continuing education credit will be offered for a variety of professions, based on 2 hours of instruction. A certificate of credit or a certificate of attendance will be awarded to participants who complete the evaluation.

Questions about registration should be directed to 800-41-TRAIN, 404-639-1292, or email ce@cdc.gov.
