
Gammacell Irradiator (Web-based)

This is a computer-based, self-study course which provides instruction in the fundamentals of radiation protection applied to Gammacell Irradiators, basic irradiator function, irradiator operation, and emergency procedures . Each module presents instructional text interspersed with relevant graphics and diagrams to enhance audile and visual learning.
This course meets the training standards set forth by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission 10 CFR 20 Standards for Protection Against Radiation and 10 CFR 36.51.

TARGET AUDIENCE: Target audience encompasses all CDC employees whom utilizes the Gammacell Irradiators to assist in their work MATERIALS: CDC network access PREREQUISITES: The participant should have basic knowledge of laboratory safety principles at CDC including how to work safely with infectious materials, chemicals, radioactive materials, and hazardous waste, wearing personal protective equipment, working with centrifuges/ultra-centrifuges and compressed gas cylinders, following decontamination procedures and accident/incident reporting procedures as obtained from completing Safety Survival Skills I II.
