Vector-Borne Disease Control

This two-volume self-study courses provides practical competence in vector-borne disease
control. Descriptive taxonomy is covered, with taxonomic keys and other aids included in
the study manuals. Covers selected arthropods of public health importance, their
anatomical and physiological composition, and their biologic classifications. Also
identifies selected types of insecticides, insecticidal formulations, factors affecting
their selection and preparation and precautions for their use. Reviews sanitation
procedures used in insect and rodent control programs, recognizing the importance of
integrated control programs. Dr. Harry Pratt, formerly with the Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention served as course developer. The course includes the June 1999
update of the Manual 8A, Ticks of Public Health Importance and Their Control with
new information related to Lyme Disease. (Course revised 1993.)
