Missouri Statute Authorizing Public
Health Agency Mutual Aid Activity
Section 44.090 of the Missouri Revised Statutes was recently
amended to include public health agencies among those that are
authorized to "enter into mutual-aid arrangements or agreements
with other public and private agencies within and without the
state for reciprocal emergency aid." Upon enactment of the law,
public health agencies became part of the Missouri mutual aid
system, administered by the Department of Public Safety/Office
of the State Fire Marshal. Subject to certain limitations, members
of the system may render aid even in the absence of a mutual
aid agreement. The law also addresses issues relating to licensing
reciprocity, reimbursement, personnel benefits, and liability. To access the law, please click
here.
