  • Identify a variety of legal issues posed by an emerging health emergency.
  • Understand the important role the state attorney general plays in formulating a legal response to address potential legal issues.
  • Recognize potential legal hazards that could expose responders and government agencies to liability and available defenses to minimize such risks.

Resource Material:

Attendees will receive cd's compiled for the national conference which contain a pleadings book containing draft forms (including affidavits, briefs, and court orders) that each emergency legal coordinator and judicial officer can adapt in responding to legal issues raised during a public health emergency and a manual and related training material that emergency legal coordinators and judicial officers can use to hold table top exercises in their states to pose and resolve legal issues typical to public health emergencies.
