General Rule #5

Increasing the interval between doses of a multidose vaccine
does not diminish the effectiveness of the vaccine.

Decreasing the interval between doses of a multidose vaccine
may interfere with antibody response and production.

Parents adopt a 2-year-old child from Russia. They have partial
vaccination records, which state that MMR vaccine was given at
12 months, and that polio vaccine was given at 2 months,
4 months, and 12 months. Based on these records, what action
should be taken?

Option A The child should be started on a "catch-up" schedule for vaccines not listed in the vaccination record.
Option B The child should be started on a "catch-up" vaccine schedule for all childhood vaccines.
Option C Vaccination should be delayed until complete vaccination records can be obtained.
Option D For the vaccines not listed in the record, serologic testing should be done to check for immunity.
