| Abstract | This chapter on respirator fit testing is divided into two parts. The first part describes various fit test methods currently used, discusses their advantages and disadvantages, and deals with other areas related to performing a fit test. This part can be used by respiratory program managers, industrial hygienists, and others in setting up a respirator fit testing program and performing fit tests. The second part discusses additional topics related to the area of fit testing such as the relationship of quantitative fit factors to workplace protections, the background on the various fit test methods described, other types of fit tests not commonly used today such as the large size aerosol quantitative fit test, and recent fit test research. | | Keywords | Respirators; Respiratory-equipment; Testing-equipment; Particle-counters; Face-masks; Aerosol; Air-purifying-respirators; Sampling-equipment; Asbestos-dust; | | Contact | National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, Morgantown, WV 26505 | | Publication Date | 19980101 | | Editors | Peters-GA; Peters-BJ; | | Fiscal Year | 1998 | | NTIS Accession No. | | | NTIS Price | | | NIOSH Division | DRDS; | | Priority Area | Exposure Assessment Methods; Research Tools and Approaches; | | Source Name | The Treatment and Prevention of Asbestos Diseases: Sourcebook on Asbestos Diseases | | State | WV; |
