Biography

Ami McLandsborough is currently a Senior Environmental/Safety Specialist with the City of Cincinnati Health Department in the Center for Public Health Preparedness.  She is responsible for Cincinnati's Cities Readiness Initiative, occupational health and safety for the Cincinnati Health Department's employees, and emergency preparedness planning and response.

Ms. McLandsborough earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science from Wright State University and is currently working on a Masters in Environmental, Health and Safety Management at the University of Findlay.  Prior to joining the Cincinnati Health Department, she worked as an environmental, health and safety consultant, a health and safety manager for a hazardous waste company and for the City's Employee Safety section.

Leadership Development Opportunities

The past year with EPHLI has truly been a life changing experience.  I have gained a new perspective on issues that face the environmental public health field now and, more importantly, those that will be challenges in the future.  I have been able to apply the systems thinking process that we learned in this program to real-life work situations, allowing our health department to find effective solutions that might have otherwise not been considered.  The opportunity to meet with individuals from the CDC and local health departments across the country is invaluable; resulting in a group of people I know I can count on when I have a question.
