ATSDR Case Study in Environmental Medicine: Nitrates/Nitrites Toxicity (Web-based)

This is one in a series of courses intended to close the educational gap created by a paucity of formal training in environmental medicine for healthcare professionals during undergraduate, graduate, and post graduate training and the Institute of Medicine (IOM) identified clinical competencies in environmental medicine recommended for the primary health care provider.

This self -paced, interactive web- based course includes a clinical case study to illustrate and reinforce the principles and practices of environmental medicine of the IOM recommended environmental medicine competencies for primary health care providers.

The course is designed to enhance knowledge competence of the primary health care provider in the assessment and management of patients overexposed or potentially overexposed to nitrates or nitrites to prevent and/or mitigate exposure related adverse health effects.

TARGET AUDIENCE: Our primary target audience is primary health providers and other health professionals involved in preventing/mitigating exposure to hazardous substances and/or related health promotion activities.

PREREQUISITES: A basic knowledge of medicine or related basics of human health promotion at a professional level is desired.
