This monograph is one in a series of self-instructional publications designed to increase the primary care providers and other health professional’s knowledge of hazardous substances in the environment and to aid in the evaluation of potentially exposed patients.

This web based monograph begins with a composite case study that describes a realistic encounter with a patient. This description is followed by challenging initial check questions. The case study is further developed with progress check questions at the end of each section. To fully benefit from this monograph, readers are urged to answer each question as it is presented. (Answers to the Initial Check and Progress Check questions are supported by the text). The monograph ends with an assessment and post-test, which can be completed online for continuing education credit. As part of the assessment, the individual can indicate the credits they are registering for, Continuing Medical Education (CME), Continuing Nursing Education (CNE), Certified Health Education Contact Hours (CECH) or Continuing Education Unit (CEU) credit.

The participant is to take a post-test. The participant may then complete a course evaluation and print out their certificate of completion.

PREREQUISITES: A basic knowledge of medicine or related basics of human health promotion at a professional level is desired.
